Why wait for the revolution?

Been thinking about this a lot recently. Whilst we talk so much about what needs to change and what might come about in the future as a result of a socialist government, we almost never act on them. Even the things that require very little from the movement as a whole.

What would it take for a group of socialists in the UK to organise and put together a formal written constitution so that when we do seize control of the state, we have it ready and waiting. Preheated, I suppose. It might take like 50 people 5 years of discussion, research and negotiation but that’s time well spent no? Better than writing another book or academic journal surely.

TWT19’s panel by James Butler about the history of the British constitution was so well attended that people were crowding outside the door. There’s clearly enough interest in understanding why we don’t have a written constitution, surely there’s some interest in creating one? We have the talent on the left, just not the commitment.

Stop waiting to take control of the state and just do it now ffs. There’s only 10 years left.
